Cloud Native Days Italy 2027: Building the Community, Together
There is something special about community events.
They bring together people who might otherwise know each other only through GitHub, Slack, mailing lists, conference talks, or open-source projects. They create space for conversations that don’t fit into a talk abstract, for experiences that are best shared face to face, and for connections that often continue long after the event is over.
That’s one of the reasons I joined the volunteer organizing team of Cloud Native Days Italy in 2026. After experiencing what it takes to bring the community together, I’m happy to be working with the team again on the next edition.
Cloud Native Days Italy 2027 will take place on 19–20 May 2027 at the Savoia Hotel Regency in Bologna.
As we start preparing for the event, I would like to talk about why these gatherings matter, and why we are inviting companies to support the community as sponsors.
The event will span two days: 19 May will be dedicated to hands-on workshops, while 20 May will focus on conference talks and community activities. Two different formats, with the same goal: bringing people together to learn, exchange ideas, and connect.
Community is more than networking
The cloud-native ecosystem is built on collaboration. Open-source projects depend on people sharing code, knowledge, feedback, and experience. The same spirit is what makes a community event valuable.
Of course, talks are an important part of a conference. They introduce ideas, explain technologies, and give people something new to explore. But an event is not just a sequence of presentations.
Some of the most meaningful moments happen between sessions: during a coffee break, over lunch, while discussing a production issue, or when someone introduces you to a project or a person you would not otherwise have met.
These conversations make room for practical knowledge and honest experiences, including the things that didn’t work, the lessons learned, and the challenges that are still open.
They also help newcomers find their place in the ecosystem. Meeting people who are willing to share what they know can make a complex and sometimes overwhelming technical landscape feel much more approachable.
For me, that’s the real value of a community event: people coming together to learn from one another and make the ecosystem stronger.
Built by the community, for the community
Cloud Native Days Italy is a non-profit, volunteer-run event organized by the Italian Cloud Native and Kubernetes Community.
The goal is to provide a safe, vendor-neutral space where practitioners can share real stories, hard lessons, and practical knowledge. It is a place for experienced professionals, people who are just starting their cloud-native journey, open-source contributors, enthusiasts, and everyone curious about the technologies shaping our industry.
Being part of the organizing team has also given me a new appreciation for what happens behind the scenes.
An event may look like a day of talks and conversations, but making it happen takes months of planning, coordination, decisions, and a lot of small tasks. The organizing team does this alongside its regular jobs, driven by a shared belief that the Italian cloud-native community benefits from having a place to meet in person.
The 2026 edition was another reminder of what this community can achieve when people contribute their time, knowledge, and energy. Now we’re looking forward to building the next one together.
A call for sponsors: support the community
A community event cannot be built by volunteers alone. It also needs organizations that believe in the value of an open, active, and connected technical ecosystem.
That’s why we are looking for sponsors for Cloud Native Days Italy 2027.
Supporting the event is a way for companies to give something back to the community they are part of. It is an opportunity to meet practitioners, exchange ideas with people working on real-world challenges, and contribute to a space where open-source and cloud-native knowledge can be shared.
We want sponsors to be part of the event and its community, not simply logos on a page. The most valuable relationships are those built through genuine conversations, shared interests, and long-term engagement with the ecosystem.
If your organization works with cloud-native technologies, Kubernetes, platform engineering, infrastructure, observability, security, DevOps, or open source, we would be happy to talk.
You can find the sponsorship opportunities and all the practical details in the Cloud Native Days Italy 2027 Sponsorship Prospectus.
If you are interested in supporting the event, or know a company that might be, get in touch with the organizing team at [email protected].
Every contribution helps us create an event where the community can meet, learn, share, and grow.
